The 2009 Qatar National Day celebrations concluded with a magnificent fireworks finale presented by Howard & Sons Pyrotechnics. The display illuminated the entire Doha Corniche with glittering pyrotechnic stars throughout the 17 minute pyromusical that was of a size and scale that has never been seen in Qatar before.
A spectacular military parade entertained the crowds throughout the day with an amazing air show, to the likes that the Howard & Sons Pyrotechnics crew had never seen anything like it anywhere in the world before.
Huge crowds gathered around the Corniche that was illuminated with beautiful street lighting, picturesque images of Qatar’s national icons and artwork was projected onto over 30 buildings and searchlights beamed through the nights sky.
As the sun set and the stars started to twinkle in the nights sky the crowds were then treated to an amazing galaxy of pyrotechnic stars performing a perfectly synchronised performance of roman candles, mines, comets and aerial shells dancing to a powerful music soundtrack titled “Pride of the Nation”.

“The fireworks show was undoubtedly the jewel in the crown of yesterday’s programme as it was the event everyone was looking forward to. The Australians who staged the display did not disappoint the crowds who lined the Corniche and occupied rooftops.
For over a quarter of an hour, the sky was aglow with a riot of colours and the city echoed with the boom of fireworks. As soon as the display got under way exactly at 8pm as promised, screams and cheers could be heard all along the Corniche.Youngsters were the most vocal in their delight. Cars moving on the waterfront stopped for the show.
The scale of the show was incredible, and the colours over the Doha night sky provided a memorable sight that could be seen from all over the city.
The image of the Corniche with its highly developed West Bay skyline being showered in gold was an appropriate finale to the day-long celebrations. The excitement that overwhelmed the crowd was evident as cars with enthusiastic people waving flags filled the city’s roads.”
Andrew Howard was very pleased with how the show was presented,”We brought together a team of 24 pyrotechnicians to produce the most technically and logistically challenging display we have ever produced. They, and our production team back in the factory, worked so hard to put this show together and I’m very proud of our entire team.”
“The show looked amazing and most importantly the entire audience was taken on a magical pyrotechnic journey that they will never forget. That’s what we set out to achieve and its so satisfying having done that and we hope to be back in 2010 to produce an even more spectacular show for the people of Qatar.
